The heart behind our work: celebrating our incredible volunteers
National Volunteers Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary people who generously give their time, skills and expertise to support Maluk Timor and our mission to strengthen primary health care in Timor-Leste.
Behind every program, partnership and achievement is a dedicated network of volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes. Through our Board, Medical Advisory Committee, Finance, Risk, Audit & Governance Committee, and Partnerships, Communications & Fundraising Committee, volunteers provide invaluable leadership, guidance and technical expertise that help sustain and grow our work.
Our volunteers come from a diverse range of professional backgrounds including clinical health care, dentistry, law, governance, finance, investments, communications, fundraising and health administration. Together, they bring an extraordinary depth of knowledge and experience that strengthens every part of our organisation.
Importantly, their contribution directly supports Maluk Timor’s work to fight preventable diseases and save lives in Timor-Leste.
Every day, our Timorese team works alongside communities to improve access to quality health care through programs focused on Maternal and Child Health, Rheumatic Heart Disease, HIV and Tuberculosis. These programs help deliver critical care, early diagnosis, treatment, prevention and long-term health support for some of the country’s most vulnerable communities.
The expertise, advice and support provided by our volunteers help ensure these programs remain effective, sustainable and responsive to local needs. Whether strengthening governance, supporting fundraising efforts, providing medical expertise or helping guide organisational strategy, our volunteers play an essential role in making this work possible.
We are especially grateful to the many long-term volunteers who have supported Maluk Timor over many years with unwavering commitment and generosity. Their dedication has helped shape our organisation and continues to create meaningful and lasting impact across Timor-Leste.
We also recognise the volunteers from around the world who contribute their time, ideas and professional expertise to support our mission. Despite living in different countries and working across different industries, they are united by a shared belief that everyone deserves access to quality health care.
Many of our volunteers not only give generously with their time and hearts, but also support Maluk Timor financially because they have seen firsthand the importance and impact of this work. Their belief in our mission is deeply valued and helps us continue delivering vital health initiatives to communities that need them most.
Behind the scenes, often without recognition, our volunteers work tirelessly to help Maluk Timor continue delivering meaningful and sustainable health outcomes. Their contribution is invaluable, and their dedication makes a real difference to the lives of individuals, families and communities across Timor-Leste.
