Volunteer at Maluk Timor
Maluk Timor relies on committed volunteers to mentor and support the work of our excellent Timorese staff. We have a number of volunteer opportunities available right now. What makes an ideal volunteer?
Volunteers who are only available to come for a few weeks are rarely able to make much impact. Ideal volunteers stay for longer periods (months rather than weeks), make an effort to learn the local language and bring a humble attitude and sense of humour. Life in Timor-Leste can be difficult and frustrating, so we look for people who have:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Patience and a growth mindset (for encouraging development of skills)
- Creativity and resilience
- High levels of self-motivation, able to prioritise tasks and work independently
