Dr Raj and Dr Lois Share Their Insights on Volunteering

Maluk Timor’s Executive Director – Dr Raj Rajaraman and his wife Dr Lois Hong, who is also the organisation’s Clinical Director, have had a long connection to healthcare in Timor-Leste. Raj started volunteering in a small clinic in Dili in 2005 and returned 15 years later to volunteer full time at Maluk Timor, before becoming full time staff a year later.
They now lead our team of 82 staff to strengthen healthcare in Timor-Leste through training and upskilling local healthcare workers. Maluk Timor also has many professionals from across the world volunteering their time and expertise.
Having been active healthcare volunteers in various countries, Dr Raj and Lois are always happy to share about the realistic challenges and opportunities of volunteering and encourage others to volunteer. Read about their inspiring experience and advice for volunteers recently captured in Singapore Magazine and Singapore Medical Association.
